About Us

About Us

Founded in 1932, at Lexington field in North Waterloo, Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is deeply rooted in the Waterloo region.  With its beginnings as a flying club, WWFC has continued to grow over the years, including being the driving force behind the development of the Waterloo Airport in its current location in 1950. WWFC managed the airport for over 20 years. Today WWFC is proud to offer a state of the art facility, is partnered with two prestigious post-secondary institutions – offering industry recognized training to individuals seeking a career in aviation and still strongly supports the general aviator. Waterloo Wellington is a not-for-profit corporation and is governed by an eight member volunteer board of directors who oversee the long term development and operation of WWFC and its programs.

Our History

Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre Club History
Local business man Norm Schneider, from JM Schneider Meats and Robert Dietrich, whose father owned Weston Bakery, were local flying enthusiasts and helped locate and found the first flying club in Kitchener-Waterloo at the corner of Bridge and Lexington.

This first step turned out to be a long association with aviation and the growth of the airport at its present location.
